CM N Biren lead 8th International Yoga day was held at Khuman Lampak Indoor Hall


8th International Yoga day was held at Khuman Lampak Indoor Hall. The programme was organised by Directorate of AYUSH, Manipur & State Ayush Society and Youth Affairs & Sports. Chief guest of today’s function, Chief Minister N.Biren said that the proper behaviour of the people during the Pandemic period helps us to recover from the critical Covid-19 pandemic. He said that yoga is a form of exercise which were used by saints and yogis during early period. After Modi was appointed as the Prime Minister of India and since 2015 every year, June 21 is celebrated as International Yoga Day. More than 175  countries were taking part in the celebration and some of them which can be mentioned were China, Canada and USA. 

Further, he mentioned that India was under the British and the Mughals for a long period of time and now that people of this era began to realise the importance of Yoga and with the passingevery year more n more countries began to take part. He also said, this year,s theme is based on Humanity and also highlights the importance of humanity in today’s world. 

In today’s programme, Minister TH. Bishwajit, Y. Khemchand, Govindas Konthoujam, Nemcha Kipgen, Awangbow Newmai, Letpao Haokip, L. Sushindro, Heikham Dingo, TH. Basanta, Kashim Vashum, Dr. S. Ranjan other MLAs , other senior Govt. officials, Youths of the state and Yoga Trainers also took part.
