Bomb planted at Khongjom defused safely

THOUBAL: A team of KJM-PS along with BDDS difused the bomb safely at around 11:30 today. The bomb was planted at Khongjom loukol near Eastern side of the YMC brick field  Khongjom Langathel lamgam Ching- The team rushed and cordoned off the area and later a Bomb detection and disposal squad of KJM-PS along with BDDS successfully managed to defuse the bomb safely:

One Day National Dialogue on Tribal Heroes in India’s Freedom Struggle’ at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University, Canchipur.

Chief Minister N Biren attended the ‘One Day National Dialogue on Tribal Heroes in India’s Freedom Struggle’ at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University, Canchipur.  

The programme was held to honor the roles of unsung tribal heroes during India’s struggle for Independence. PM, Narendra Modi has taken up various initiatives, most prominent being the observation of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas on November 15.

Following PM’s announcement to set up tribal freedom fighters’ museums across the country, the construction of the Rani Gaidinliu Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museum in the state is also underway.

Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Joint Secretary (NCST) Konthang Touthang, Professor, Department of History, Tripura University Prof. Sukhendu Debbarma, Vaibhav Surange of Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, faculties and students of Manipur University also attended the programme among others.

River Cleaning campaign begins in Kangpokpi.

Following the successful cleaning and rejuvenation campaign of Nambul River, Directorate of Environment & Climate Change and Water Resources Department today launched a month-long ‘Cleaning of Imphal River Campaign under the River Rejuvenation Programme’ in Kangpokpi district. 

The programme is undertaken in collaboration with the District Administration Kangpokpi, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council (SH-ADC), Kangpokpi Town Committee (KTC), Kangpokpi Women’s Welfare Organisation (KWWO), Kangpokpi Youth Union (KYU) among others.

Speaking to District Information Officer, Kangpokpi, Deputy Director Dr. T. Brajakumar Singh, Directorate of Environment and Climate Change said the target is to fully clean the Imphal River which is under the initiative of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and guidance of Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai.  Informing that the Imphal River cleaning drive is along the stretch from Kangpokpi to Sekmai for phase-I, he said the cleaning process has started from today in Kangpokpi district. He also said, simultaneously a month-long awareness campaign will begin from coming Tuesday (4th October, 2022) at each and every wards of the district consisting of around 50 households. 

He said the target is to collect domestic waste at each household and to impose door to door waste collection at various establishments which will be done by the KTC under the overall supervision of the SH-ADC. He informed that actions have been taken up as per the District Environment Plan. 

Stating that the target is to change people’s habit and to privatise the door to door collection for self sustenance for the maintenance of the operation, he informed that the aim is to stop domestic waste/solid waste from polluting the Imphal River. 

He said establishment areas like markets, hospitals, offices, shops among others will have to mandatory pay fees for the collection of solid waste, which will be done on daily basis. He informed that in case the campaign is successful than it will be continued for few months. 

On the other hand, KTC Chairman Angam Leivon welcomed the move of the government and expressed his happiness over the cleaning of the river, plan for awareness campaign and collection of solid waste. Stating that the plan will surely help the people of the district to live in clean environment, he said the action plan is the need of the hour as it is important to save the rivers and other water bodies in the State.  

It may be noted that on 19th of this month, Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai along with  Kengoo Zuringla, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi and officials of Water Resources Department and Directorate of Environment & Climate Change had inspected the Imphal River, Makhan River and Sekmai River banks.

Free Medical Camp at Chamu Village in connection with Seva Pahwada.

As a part of the SevaPakhwada celebration,  a free medical camp was organised today at Chamu Village. Thew free medical camp was graces by MAHUD Minister Y. Khemchand and around 578 patients of the village were medically examined and also free medicines were given to them. Lastly, Minister also thanked the villagers of Chamu village for the warm welcome given by them.

DC Thoubal inaugurates PHC at Leishangthem

Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, A.Subhash Singh,IAS today inaugurated a Primary Health Center at Leisangthem Thoudam in the presence of Md Abdul Latif, Zilla  Parishad member Leisangthem and CMO Thoubal Dr.Y.Nokul Singh. 

Speaking at the inauguration function,Deputy Commissioner said the Primary Health Center will benefit the people of Leisangthem and its adjoining areas. Earlier, during the need for an emergency medical assistance people residing in the locality had to travel to District Hospital or other centers for medical assistance. He said the newly inaugurated health center will also be specially helpful for older persons as they can now avail regular health check up. Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the doctor and staffs render their duties with sincerity and provide all the benefits of having the PHC to the people of the locality.

CMO and ZP member also spoke to the gatherings and urged them to take full advantage and benefit of the PHC. Meanwhile various cleanliness drive is being organised in different parts of the District as part of Swacchata hi Seva 2022. Social Service was held today at Lamding Higher Secondary school ground. School students and youth of Lamding and Sangaiyumpham Part-II took part in the cleanliness drive. Social service was conducted under the aegis of PHE Thoubal Division.

CM visits Henglep, Inaugurates Transit quarter and Henglep High School.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today visited S. Kholian (Thingkeu Village), Henglep Sub-division of Churachandpur District and laid foundation stones for Amusement Cum Children Park to be constructed at Songpi Village with an estimated cost of Rs. 4.8 crore and Improvement/Upgradation of Henglep Thingkeu Tipaimukh Road (31.782 Km) with an work order amount of Rs. 75.94 crore.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the construction of Henglep High School (6 Classrooms) at Henglep with a project cost of Rs. 57.28 lakh and construction of Transit Quarter (for Medical and Education Staff) with a project cost of Rs. 73.67 lakh both under Backward Block Development Fund, North Eastern Council.

Addressing the gathering, N. Biren Singh stated that the Go to Hills mission was launched to bridge the developmental gaps between hill and valley regions after he became Chief Minister in the year 2017. Since then, the Go to Hills programme and even Cabinet meetings had been held at different district headquarters to review the progress of developmental works taken up in the areas.

Expressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s way of governance based on humanity and to work for the welfare of people, the Chief Minister stressed the need to keep aside all the differences and enmity and work together for the inclusive development. He further called Churachandpur as the luckiest district as a medical college with 100 seats of MBBS had been established, recognizing the potential of the people of the district. As such, he appealed to the public to refrain from bandh and strike to express their grievance and rather come up for talks to solve the issue. He further appealed to render support in Government’s initiatives to take up different projects for the development of the district.

Regarding the road development work at Tipaimukh Road (NH-150), Shri N. Biren requested the NHIDCL Officials to make a proposal for widening the road into double land as the locals had agreed not to take land compensation. He also informed that an Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) would be constructed at the Henglep Headquarter citing its backwardness. Regarding upgradation of the health centre and construction of a community hall at P. Sejol village, he said that he would look into the matter.

Informing that Churachandpur District is also included among the seven districts where the Government is constructing amusement parks, he asked the people of the district to plan well and keep some lands reserved for taking up development works. He further appealed to the public not to carry out deforestation for poppy plantations. As it not only affects the environment but makes youths addicted to drugs. He instructed the Superintendent of Police to take up immediate actions against those carrying out poppy plantations in the district.

Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister Letpao Haokip, Chairman, Hill Areas Committee Dinganglung Gangmei and MLA of Henglep AC Letzamang Haokip accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit. Administrative Secretaries, Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur, Government Officials and village authorities also attended the programme among others.

MAHUD Minister Y. Khemchand launched App Based Public Bicycle Sharing System.

MAHUD Minister Y. Khemchand launched an App based Public bicycle Sharing System today in the presence of august officials,which is a step of the Imphal Smart City LTD.

Attending the programme, Minister said that, the public bicycle sharing system will have a positive impact on the environment,and inner city travel can be facilitated and hoped that it would soon gain popularity in our city,and enhance the preservation of the environment. In launching the App based Public Bicycle Sharing System today, it has been joyful that inner city travel will be facilitated by the use of these bi-cycles. It was an Environment friendly step of the Imphal Smart City Ltd. ,reducing the emission of smoke, and preventing air pollution.

2nd round of National Deworming Programme launched in Thoubal by DC

2nd round of National Deworming day, 2022 was formally launched today in Thoubal District also by the Deputy Commissioner Thoubal A.Subhash Singh, IAS. 

Speaking at the launching program held  at the Conference of DHS, CMO Complex Thoubal,Deputy Commissioner said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Government of India launched the campaign of National Deworming in February 2015. He said such campaign will prevent the children from the various health problems cause due to the presence of worms.

CMO Thoubal Dr.Y.Nokul Singh spoke in length about the Deworming campaign. He said National Deworming Day is observed to create awarness about the importance of deworming, particularly  for  the children from the age group of 1 to 19 years who are the most vulnerable, to raise awareness on intestinal worms and attain complete eradication of soil transmitted Helminths in children. He said as per the direction from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in order to protect from the worm Albendazole tablets is administered twice a year. 

Dr.Ch.Memcha Medical Superintendent, District Hospital,Thoubal also attended the programme. She also spoke about the importance of Deworming campaign. Albendazole tablets were distributed to the schools through ZEO Thoubal. For children who are not attending the school, Anganwadi workers and ASHA facilitators will administered the tablets. 

Textiles, Commerce & Industry Minister Nemcha Kipgen Inaugurates CHCs.

Textiles, Commerce & Industry Minister, Nemcha Kipgen today inaugurated Common Facility Centre of Haorang Sabal Block Level Cluster and IDPH Projects of Imphal West at Salam Village. The newly inaugurated CFC is funded by the Development Commissioner for Handloom & Handicrafts and the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

During the inaugural function, Minister for Textiles, Nemcha announced the “Preparatory Support Scheme” which will be available in this newly inaugurated CFC at Salam Village from 2nd October, 2022 onwards with an objective to support the handloom weavers. She further informed a component of new programme to provide the following benefit to handloom weavers exclusively at CFC namely warped beam at 50 percent on the cost yarn, pirn with weft yarn at 50 percent on the cost yarn and Bobbins with warp yarn at 50 percent on the cost yarn.

Minister Nemcha mentioned the skillfulness of Manipur’s weavers and artisans and their contribution in the economy of the State. She asserted that the State Government under the leadership of CM N. Biren Singh is giving all efforts to further develop the handloom and handicrafts sectors in Manipur.

Minister also stated that the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India approved and sanctioned for construction of l0 Common Facility Centres (CFC) under the National Handloom Development Programme and were constructed in l0 Block Level Cluster (BLC). Out of the 10 CFCs, 5 CFCs are under the Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. and the remaining 5 CFCs are under the Manipur Apex HL Weavers and HC artisans CS Ltd, she added. She continued the main objective for setting up of such CFCs at 10 Blocks is to carry out common activities of handloom, weaving and dyeing. The Ministry of Textiles with their office in Manipur has been closely monitoring the progress of construction of the CFCs.   The Common Facility Centre (CFC) is a centre where common activities of weavers of the surrounding area like winding, sizing, drying, warping, new design, development, etc. have to be performed.

World Tourism Day Observed in Manipur.

CM N Biren Singh said that the State’s future lies in the tourism sector and so the State Government has been putting in every effort to bring positive change in the State. 

This was stated by him at the celebration of World Tourism Day held at Maibam Lotpa Ching, Nambol Bishnupur district today. The celebration was organized by Department of Tourism, Government of Manipur under the theme “Rethinking Tourism”. 

Addressing the gathering, CM said that the government is developing more tourist circuits across the State so as to attract tourists. Mentioning that the State’s uniqueness in terms of scenic beauty, climatic conditions, culture, tradition etc., he added that the State Government has started developing many tourist spots including Sangai Ethnic Park at Moirang Khunou, the 120 feet tall Sagol Kangjei statue at Marjing, Heritage site at Makhel, Rani Gaidinliu Museum, Cultural Centre at Behiang, Amusement parks at various places etc. Kangkhui cave and Tharon cave will be opened for tourists soon. The government is constructing a 5-star hotel at the Old High Court Complex in partnership with Tata group, he added. 

CM highlighted that with an aim to promote the traditional ‘Sagol Kangjei’ and encourage Sagol Kangjei players and pony breeders, the government will organise Chief Minister's Sagol Kangjei Tournament in the upcoming Sangai Festival 2022. 

Stating that it is the responsibility of the government to work for the welfare and well-being of the people, CM said that the government has taken up various initiatives such as improving air and surface connectivity in the last 5 years to boost the tourism sector. Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, NorthEast India has been transformed and has become India’s growth engine. The Central government has withdrawn the special allowances to All India Services officers working in Northeastern region recently. Such step shows that the law and order situation has been improved and peace has been restored in the region, he added.

CM further said that the government has tied up with Samsung Company for establishing a world class training facility for sportpersons. Under the initiative, a virtual training zone will be developed for disciplines like football, boxing, judo, badminton, hockey and archery in the first phase, he added. He hoped that such initiative will help further towards producing many world class athletes.

30th Foundation Day of the Poirei Eethiba Lup

Minister Y. Khemchand attended as Chief Guest of the 30th Foundation Day of the Poirei Eethiba Lup and Blood & Eye Donation camp today. As a part of the function, Minister had planted indigenous plants in and around Kongba Maru,a sacred site of the Meitei faith and he also expressed his deep happiness.

The blood and eye donation was indeed humanitarian and I hope that PEEL will continuously work for humanitarian services. For the last thirty years, PEEL has been doing a very good work and I wish to express my appreciation for it.

CM N. Biren inaugurates FlyBig Flight from Imphal to Tezu, Arunachal Pradesh.

CM N Biren Singh inaugurated the Flybig Flight from Imphal to Tezu at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport today.

Speaking on the occasion, CM maintained that under UDAN Scheme which is an initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s, the State will be connected to Arunachal Pradesh by the Flybig flight. The flight will directly fly to Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh and then to Guwahati. With such an initiative, connections among peoples of different North East States will become closer, he added. He continued that this would not only increase people to people connections but also bring growth in businesses and in the tourism sector.

Regarding the Imphal to Bangkok Flight service, CM informed that Imphal to Bangkok via Guwahati will start its operation soon. However, the direct flight from Imphal to Bangkok is still under consideration, calculating the volume of passengers from the State, he said assuring that the same will also be started.

The inaugural programme was also attended by Works Minister Shri Govindas Konthoujam and Transport Minister Shri Khashim Vashum.

CM N Biren Singh today inaugurated Hotel Imolesh located at Old Lambulane Road, Imphal West in presence of Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam and Former Minister Okram Henry Singh.

Addressing the gathering, CM expressed that a politician should always work tirelessly to provide people with a quality life, safeguarding human rights and making arrangements for their people to be self-sustaining in their occupation. As such, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken up various welfare schemes for the people of the Country and ensured its accessibility at micro level, he added.

Continuing that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, the State Government has been putting all efforts to bring a change in the State, CM mentioned that an Institute of Hotel Management had been opened recently. The Government had also provided IT training to around 2,000 youths, out of which around 1,000 youths had got jobs in the sector. He also maintained that many foreign tourists are willing to visit the State considering its scenic beauty, weather, decency of people and the taste of its cuisine. He added that the Hotel Imolesh was being inaugurated at the right time as many tourists are visiting the State for the upcoming Sangai Festival 2022.

CM, Ministers and MLAs paid tributes to Pandit Deendayal Upadhya's 106th birth anniversary.

Chief Minister N Biren along with other ministers and MLAs of the state paid respectful tributes to the great nationalist,  Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his 106th  birth anniversary today. He was an exceptional organiser, visionary thinker & dedicated social worker. His philosophies of 'Antyodaya' & 'Integral Humanism' continue to inspire many. He was the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh and one of the forerunners of BJP party.

Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) awarded the 2nd Prize for the States in the Jaivik INDIA AWARDS 2022

Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) under Horticulture & Soil Conservation Department, Govt of Manipur was awarded the 2nd Prize for the States / Govt Agencies Category for the year 2021-22 in the Jaivik INDIA  AWARDS 2022 which was held at the Taj Hotel & Convention Centre. CM also congratulated Horticulture Department and teams of MOMA.

Chandel police team destroyed poppy plants.

As a part of War on Drugs 2.0 taken up by Chief Minister N. Biren, Molcham police team, Chandel reserved team, Chakpikarong Police team and Hengshi Village Authorities went to Hengshi at Myanmar border for survey of suspected poppy plantation area. During the survey, some poppy plantations were found in the interior areas of Hengshi. Along with it, some huts used by poppy cultivators have also been destroyed. The team said that they would continue these operations across the state.

Ayushman Bharat Diwas celebrated at Churachandpur.

Ayushman Bharat Diwas, 2022 (celebration of 4 years of AB-PMJAY) was held today at DTC Hall, Tuibong. The event is organized by the District Administration, Churachandpur. Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, ShriSarath Chandra Arroju, Deputy Commissioner of the district congratulated the achievements of the district regarding Ayushman Bharat. Stating that PMJAY provides health cover up to Rs. 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalization, the entitlement base scheme covers poor and vulnerable families based on deprivation and occupational criteria as per the SECC database, he added. Acknowledging the achievement of the medical department, the DC urged the people for their support in the implementation of the scheme for maximum benefit.

PMJAY provides cashless and paperless access to services for the beneficiary at the point of service in any (both public and private) empanelled hospitals across India. In other words, a beneficiary from one State can avail of benefits from an empanelled Hospital anywhere in the Country.

Chief Medical Officer of the district Dr. Kim Simte stated that 8059 persons have benefited from the scheme in the district which translated to Rs. 10,19,86,830.00. Churachandpur and Pherzawl district together has 2,05,434 eligible beneficiaries out of which 70,144 beneficiaries have been verified and 1,35,290 are yet to be verified. The verified percentage of the two districts stands at 34% she added.

Distribution of prizes and certificates to winners of district-level painting and slogan writing competition held yesterday, sharing of successful stories and taking of pledge in support of Ayushman Bharat marked the observation.

S. KhaikhopauNgaihte, ADC and District Nodal Officer, CMHT/PMJAY, Churachandpur, Yumnam Nelson, ADC, DLOs from different departments, CMHT/PMJAY beneficiaries, students and medical staffs attended the event.

In another development, Free Health & Awareness Camp with Dr.RajukumarPrakash, MS Mch (Surgical Oncology) will be organized by NarayanaSuperspecialty Hospital, Guwahati on 27th & 28th September, 2022 at Palliative Care Unit, District Hospital. Dr.KimngaihchingSimte, CMO urged any type of known Cancer patients who are recently diagnosed or are undergoing cancer treatment to attend the health camp and avail the service.

Khabeisoi Police team arrested 2 persons along with brown sugar.

As a part of the War on Drugs 2.0, the Government of Manipur and the state police will leave no stone unturned. A Combined team of Special Commando unit, Khabeisoi and Custom department based on a reliable source conducted a search operation in Kontha Ahallup Makha Leikai. A total of 175 soap cases suspected to be brown sugar, approx. to worth INR 18 Crore, were seized.  Chief Minister also showed appreciation to Manipur Police and Custom Dept. for their efforts to subside the menace of 
drug trafficking and addiction in the state
