Manipur minister awangbow newmai inspects lli site

Manipur Water Resource and Relief & Disaster Management Minister Awangbow Newmai today inspected the Pump House No 2 of Loktak Lift Irrigation (LLI) site along with Engineer in Chief of Water Resources Department G Robindro Sharma and other concerned officials. Minister Awangbow informed that the restoration of Pump House No 2 will supply water to the Imphal High Level Canal having a length of 29 km stretching from Tera Urak Keinou to Patsoi area, which will be discharged to Nambul River. The revival of the state’s major water irrigation project is one way of pushing the agricultural lands for self-sufficiency in food grain production post COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, he asserted. It may be mentioned that Loktak Lift Irrigation Project (LLIP), located in Bishnupur district of Manipur, has been designed to pump water from Loktak Lake at three points Pump House No 1, Pump House No 2 and Pump House No 3.
