3 days North East Food Show 2022 begins in Shillong

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay inaugurated North East Food Show 2022 along with Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma. This Expo aims to provide a platform to network, connect and bridge the gap between farmers, producers, retail purchasers, importers, wholesalers, distributors, & brands nationally & internationally. It is a convergence of farmers & entrepreneurs from different States. The NEFS is a platform for cross-cultural exchange.

Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang addressed the Inaugural session of the North-East Food Show 2022, held at Polo Grounds, J.N Stadium, Shillong. Meghalaya Agriculture Minister, Shri  Banteidor Lyngdoh, Tourism Minister of Sikkim, Shri B.S Panth along with other dignitaries, officials, and participants were present marking the commencement of the 3 day long 2nd edition of North East Food Show 2022.

The food show is being  attended by ambassadors and officials of various neighboring countries, besides officials from both the Central  Government as well as the  State Governments.

Chief Minister, Shri P.S Tamang in his speech applauded the initiatives taken by the Central Government for the development of the North East Region under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. He also thanked the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Conrad Sangma for the invitation and congratulated him for introducing this innovative yet highly enriching idea of mainstreaming food items from the North East region.

The Chief Minister mentioned, 'The North East Region is now in the path of wider inclusion and mainstreaming and is witnessing an entirely new model of development, growth, peace, and stability for the first time '.

The North East Food Show is actually a venture to globalize local food items supported with the right preparation, processing, and packaging which require special human skills and appropriate technology to develop and distribute. The idea is to interconnect all the food craft institutes located in the North East region and also promote organic chefs and culinary experts in various towns and villages to bring them into a single platform for training and skill development to encourage large-scale production, he added.

North East Food Show 2022 provides a vibrant platform for entrepreneurs involved in the food business to network and make profitable deals with retail purchasers, importers, and wholesalers and have enough scope to interact with the higher institutions and the industries.
