IMPHAL: The Kuki National Organisation (KNO) has condemned the the National Socialist Council of Nagaland – Isak and Muivah (NSCN-IM) “without reservation” for the cold blooded murder of Mr. Tirong Aboh, the sitting MLA from Arunachal Pradesh's Khonsa West assembly constituency.

NPP MLA Tirong Aboh and six others were shot and killed in an ambush Tuesday afternoon in Bogapani area of Tirap District in Arunachal Pradesh. Reports say the ambush was done by cadres of NSCN (IM) which the outfit is said to have denied.

Condemning the act, PS Haokip, President, KNO in a press statement said “the KNO condemns without reservation the cold blooded murder of Mr. Tirong Aboh, the sitting MLA from Arunachal Pradesh's Khonsa West assembly constituency.” The sitting MLA was shot dead by the NSCN-IM insurgents in the Bogapani area of Tirap District of Arunachal Pradesh, on the 21st of May 2019, the KNO President added. Six others were also killed in the ambush laid by the NSCN(IM).

Clearly, such dastardly action unequivocally reveals NSCN (IM)’s utter desperation, fuelled by fabrication and greed (unfathomable political objective) and Nazi-like disposition, which blatantly contradicts their slogan ‘Nagaland For Christ’!, PS Haokip said in the press note.

The responsibility for this cowardice act of cold-blooded murder, and unnecessary death rests squarely with the group who had committed this horrendous crime, Haokip further stated.

The KNO President also stated that the onus now falls upon the Government of India, to shows its commitment by working with the state government of Arunachal Pradesh, and international partners to pursue those responsible for this heinous act.

The unfortunate incident raises a few pertinent questions, for every right thinking citizen to ponder over, he continued.

First of all, why didn't the Government of India provide adequate security cover for TirongAboh, knowing that he is being targeted by the NSCN-IM, Haokip questioned. The NSCN-IM had been committing with impunity one act of violence after the other in region. Does the framework agreement signed between GOI & NSCN-IM, empowers the latter to shoot, maim or kill anyone when and where it chooses, he questioned further.

The KNO President also questioned why hasn't the GOI not taken a resolute action against the organisation hitherto and wondered if this "Greater Nagaland" is to do away with anyone, who doesn't share your world view.

The NSCN-IM has no respect or regards for human life, and the principle of peaceful co-existence, he said.

The KNO laments the fact that such a promising life had been cut tragically short by this senseless act of violence, Haokip said adding that this incident has only highlighted the glaring fact that security is still precarious in areas of the North Eastern Region where the NSCN-IM operates.

The people of Arunachal are said to be descendants of Manasseh, one of Israel’s lost tribes. In view of their origins, a troupe participated at the ‘Celebration of Brotherhood’ in CHAVANG KUT 2014 and 2015 at Peace Ground, Tuibong, Churachandpur, Manipuralong with the Kuki people and numerous other Manasseh brethren, the KNO President said in the press note adding that it is a shame that NSCN (IM), which now touts ‘NSCN (IM) For Israel’ should engage in such contradictory activity.

KNO strongly urges Government of India to reconsider their ‘ceasefire’ with NSCN (IM) and completely annihilate the organisation it once already declared ‘Terrorists’, Haokip said.

KNO mourns the loss of their Manasseh brethren and extends deep-felt condolences to the bereaved family members of Mr TirongAboh, the MLA and the seven members NSCN (IM) ambushed and killed in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, it stated.
