Two NSCN (K) cadres killed

DIMAPUR/ 2015:Two cadres belonging to the NSCN (K) faction was killed on Thursday morning in an encounter with 31 Assam Rifles personnel at Tamatai area terrace fields, about 4 kms away from Longsa village under Mokokchung district.

Addl. SP & PRO Mokokchung Police, Yanren Ngullie said a police team led by Addl. SP, SDPO and OC PS-II rushed to the site after receiving information about incident at around 6.30 a.m. and found two dead bodies.

The two deceased have been identified as NSCN (K) ‘lieut’ Azheto son of Tosheho of Pukhato village under Kuhoboto, Dimapur district and ‘rajapeyu’ Khekato Chopy son of Vetoyi of Khemishi village under Suruhoto division, Zunheboto.

PRO said that the security forces also recovered weapons including one AK-56 rifle along with 42 live rounds, one .22 pistol (country made) and one live round and three Chinese make grenades and other items. 

The bodies were later brought to Mokokchung. After observing all formalities, PRO said that the bodies would be handed over to relatives. 

PRO informed that security has been put on high alert around the district and MVCPs intensified. DC Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patel assured that adequate security measures have been put in place and that there was no need to panic.

Meanwhile, PRO IGAR(N) in a press note said their troops, based on specific inputs, were sent to Longsa village area. Upon reaching the spot, PRO said the NSCN (K) cadres fired upon the AR troops resulting in heavy exchange of gun-fire, killing two NSCN(K) cadres.

The troops also recovered war like stores including weapons, ammunitions and explosives. As per inputs, PRO said that the cadres planning to launch attacks along the Mokokchung-Tuensang highway and in the nearby towns as per the orders received from their hierarchy. They have not only planned to target security forces, but cause explosions in public places, PRO added.
