Major Bob Khating Football Tournament Concludes at Leimakhong


Major Bob Khathing Memorial Football Tournament concluded on 13 Mar 2023, after 13 days of exhilarating and intense competition between 20 teams from Manipur state. The thrilling final match held at Mission Veng ground, Leimakhong between Football Lovers team from Chinmang Village, Senapati and Brother FC from Sapomeina village, Senapati was witnessed by more than 1200 locals. Football Lovers won by 03 goals and were crowned the Champions. 

Hon’ble Youth Affairs and Sports Minister of Manipur, Shri Govindas Konthoujam was the chief guest on the occasion and felicitated the teams. The Sports Minister commended the efforts of the Red Shield Division in providing such an opportunity to the local youth and helping in overall progress and development of the society.

The Tournament was a resounding success, bringing together football enthusiasts from across the region. It has not only provided a platform for the young players to showcase their skills but also helped the communities to come together and celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship.

All Manipur Football Association has launched three sets of jerseys for referees.


The All Manipur Football Association has launched three sets of jerseys to be worn by the referees during the ongoing 15th Manipur State League and AMFA Cup. The referees’ jersey sponsored by Arun Enterprises, Chingmeirong has shades of green, red and yellow was formally launched by AMFA president M Ratankumar Singh along with general secretary L Jyotirmoy Roy and competition director H Meghachandra Singh at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong Complex.  The jerseys are also to be worn by referees during other tournaments conducted under AMFA.

Meiraba lifts BWF India Maharashtra International Challenge trophy


Manipur's Maisnam Meiraba Luwang, 19,  wins the Senior men's single trophy at BWF badminton India Maharashtra International Challenge-2022, held at Nagpur from 13 September till 18 .

Meiraba defeated Minthun Manjunath in the finals by 21-14, 21-16 to bag the title.

Heirok Higher Secondary, Imphal won the 61st Subroto Cup International football tournament Boys U-14 title


Heirok Higher Secondary, Imphal won the 61st Subroto Cup International football tournament Boys U-14 title after beating Barway High School, Gumla, Jharkhand 2-0 in the final at the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Stadium here on Thursday. 
The winners received their trophies from Chief Guest Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari AVSM VM, Deputy Chief of Air Staff, Nirmal Chettri, former Indian team footballer was also present as Guest of Honour. The match saw fierce competition from both the teams. Manipur had most of the possession but the Jharkhand defence was determined and thrwated the attacks of the Manipur side. The first goal of the match came through a penalty when L. Bikramjit was fouled inside the box. He converted the penalty to give Heirok HSS the lead in the first half.

Second Half also saw both teams creating chances but either teams could not convert. The second goal came from a corner which was brilliantly headed in by TH Shital to seal the match and the trophy for the school from Manipur.

Speaking on the occasion, Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari AVSM VM, Deputy Chief of Air Staff, said, “It is wonderful to see such incredible young talent compete in the spirit of the game. The beauty of the Subroto Cup is that it brings together the best of young footballing talent from across the nation under one roof and this year the Boys U-14 tournament has been an apt reflection of that with 28 teams representing their states and union territories. “I congratulate not only the winners today, but also all the teams and their coaches and support staff for the admirable effort to reach this far. I wish you all the best for the future and am confident that the Subroto Cup experience will help you achieve even greater heights.”

Nirmal Chettri also provided encouragement and tips to the budding footballers saying, “You are very lucky to have got a platform like the Subroto Cup as a stepping stone to your footballing career. All I can say is that if you wish to become successful footballers in the future, practice and compete every day like you are playing a world cup final. “It is only through total commitment and dedication towards achieving excellence day in and day out, that you can achieve your dreams. That is not only true for sport, but for any field that you want to pursue. Once again, congratulations to all the winners.”

The 61st Subroto Cup now moves on to the Girls U-17 tournament which begins on September 19, with the final scheduled for September 28.

Manipur men's team beats Arunachal Pradesh in 72nd senior National North East Basketball championship.


Manipur men's team beats Arunachal Pradesh 80-63 on the ongoing 72nd Senior National North East Basketball Championship held at Hawla Indoor stadium Aizwal, Mizoram. This championship is organised by Mizoram Basketball Association under Basketball Federation of India.

As a part of the 72nd Senior National North East Basketball Championship held at Hawla Indoor Stadium, Aizawl, a match was held between Manipur and Tripura for both men and women. 

Manipur's women team defeated Tripura by 87 - 28 and also mens team defeated Tripura by 111 - 21    

Representatives of Senapati District Olympic Association and Senapati District Wrestling Association met with CM


Representatives of Senapati District Olympic Association and Senapati District Wrestling Association led by MLA Mao AC Losii Dikho called on CM N Biren Singh at his office today. In today's meeting the representatives invited CM to preside as the Chief Guest in the ensuing Senapati District Games and State Level Indigenous Wrestling Tournament to be held in Senapati in October this year.

Kalyan Chaubey was elected the new President of the All India Football Federation


Kalyan Chaubey was elected the new President of the All India Football Federation, which conducted its General Elections as per the order of the Supreme Court of India on Friday, September 2, 2022 at the Football House in New Delhi. Mr. Chaubey was voted the President in an Electoral College of 34 State Associations. While Mr. Chaubey polled 33 votes, his only rival in the fray, Bhaichung Bhutia received one vote. In addition, Mr. NA Haris won the election for Vice President election against Mr. Manvendra Singh with 29 votes against five, while Mr. Kipa Ajay won against Mr. Gopalkrishna Kosaraju, to be elected Treasurer, with 32 votes against one.Furthermore, 14 members of the Executive Committee were elected unopposed. The elections were conducted under Returning Officer. Umesh Sinha, and Assistant Returning Officer  Tapas Bhattacharya in front of FIFA Observer  Rolf Tanner, and AFC observer. Sonam Jigmi. FIFA RDO. Prince Rufus was also present on the occasion. Representatives from the 34 Member Associations were present at the Football House to cast their votes from 10am to 1pm.

MLA Th Arunkumar attended as a chief guest in the Dress Launching Ceremony of RED MACHINE FOOTBALL ACADEMY (Football Academy of Thangjam Saran) at Yumnam Khunou along with  MLA of Khundrakpam A/C Thokchom Lokeshor Singh, & P. Renedy Singh, Former India Captain.

MLA Th Arunkumar said that proper coaching can help rural youth to become skilled sportspersons and, later play at the national and international levels.

Arunkumar attended the Inaugural function of the Khumukcham Ingocha Memorial 15th Manipur State League 2022 today at Artificial Turf Ground Lamlong Imphal with  MLA  Khumukcham Joykishan and other officials. The Manipur State League, has been organized since 2006 by the All Manipur Football Association. It is the highest state-level football competition in the state of Manipur. This season 19 clubs from around the state will be divided into two groups for the first round. Each group will play out in a round-robin format. The first match was played between YPHU Lalambung & Yarkhok Utd FC Ukhrul. 

 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh opens Durand Cup at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Imphal


Defence Minister Rajnath Singh opens Durand Cup at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Imphal. It can be mentioned that Durand Cup is the oldest football tournament in whole of Asia. The opening ceremony was also joined by Chief Minister N Biren and other ministers. 
Durand Cup was held for the first time at Shimla in 1888. This year's Durand Cup will be held in three states viz; Manipur, Calcutta and Assam. In India, this reknowned Cup was started for the first time in the year 1891. In today's first match, NEROCA FC will meet against TRAU FC.

Manipur Chief Minster N Biren inspected the ongoing preparation for the eagerly awaited Durand Cup at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex along with  Minister Youth Affairs & Sports and Indian Army officials. Also checked the arrangements for the visit of  Defence Minister  Rajnath Singh and Army Chief General Manoj Pandey , who will grace the opening ceremony of the Durand Cup.

Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist Sh Nilakanta and Bronze Medalist P. Sushila Chanu who played in men's and women's hockey team for India were warmly received today at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium. The reception programme was organised by Manipur Hockey.

Bajrang Punia won gold medal in Men's Freestyle wrestling, also women's hockey team will meet Newzealand for the 3rd place.


As a part of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022, in Men's freestyle wrestling in 65 Kg Bajrang Punia won gold medal. With this he bags his 3rd consecutive Commonwealth games medal in 3 consequtive years. Also, in Womens Hockey semi final match Australia beat India in Penalty shootouts with goals 3-0. With this, India and New Zealand will meet for the 3rd place on Sunday. 

India Men's and Women's Hockey team entered semi finals in Commonwealth Games 2022


As a part of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022, India Women's and Men's Hockey team entered semi finals by defeating their rival opponents. Women's Hockey team defeated Canada by 3-2 and Men's team defeated Wales 4-1. In the men's hockey match, Harman Preet scored Hattrick. As of now, India bags a total of 20 medals. 

India won 13 medals so far in Commonwealth games 2022 Bermingham


As a part of the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Bermingham, India won first ever gold medal in Lawn Bowls. Four women played in Lawn Bowl, they are Lovely Choubey, Pinki, Nayanmoni Saikia and Rupa Rani.  Indian mixed badminton team won silver medal. Also, Gururaja won Bronze medal in menns 61 kg finals weightlifting. India's Table tennis men's team won gold medal defeating Singapore 3-1. 

Sushila Devi won Silver in 48 kg category Judo


As a part of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022, Sushila Devi Likmabam won silver medal in 48 kg Category Judo. Also Vijay Kumar won Bronze Medal in 60kg men's judo. Further, in Weightlifting 71 kg Category Harjinderkaur won another Bronze medal. All together, India won 10 medals for the ongoing commonwealth games.

In men's Hockey, India and England level the scores in full time scoring 4 goals each.

India won 4 gold medals in Commonwealth Games 2022


As a part of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 held at Bermingham, Indian  Men,s Hockey team won their opening group match beating Ghana 11-0. In the match, Harmanpreet Singh took Hattrick. Next match will be played against England. Also, Indian women's hockey team also won their second match. Also, in weightlifting in 73 kg category  Achinta Sheuli won Gold medal and in 67 kg weightlifting 19 year old Jeremy Lalrinnunga also won gold medal and with this number of gold for India is 4.
