As part of the week long festival of tree plantation also known as Vanmahotsav, Thoubal Forest Division conducted mass tree plantation today at Waithou protected reserved forest. Forest and Environment Minister Shri Th.Bishorjit led the tree plantation. Speaking to the media, the Minister said that the Forest department is targeting to plant 75 lakh sapling in commemoration of 75th years of India's Independence. He thanked the students for participating in the tree plantation. He said human being requires oxygen for survival and to meet the requirements we must plant more trees. He urged the students to plant more trees especially on special occasion like birthdays which will be a pleasant reminder for them when they become an adult. Staffs of Thoubal Forest Division, students of Paradise English School and NCC cadets took part in mass tree plantation. The State Government has been organising tree plantation drive across the state to combat climate change and to inculcate the idea of forest conservation.
