CM visits Henglep, Inaugurates Transit quarter and Henglep High School.


Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today visited S. Kholian (Thingkeu Village), Henglep Sub-division of Churachandpur District and laid foundation stones for Amusement Cum Children Park to be constructed at Songpi Village with an estimated cost of Rs. 4.8 crore and Improvement/Upgradation of Henglep Thingkeu Tipaimukh Road (31.782 Km) with an work order amount of Rs. 75.94 crore.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the construction of Henglep High School (6 Classrooms) at Henglep with a project cost of Rs. 57.28 lakh and construction of Transit Quarter (for Medical and Education Staff) with a project cost of Rs. 73.67 lakh both under Backward Block Development Fund, North Eastern Council.

Addressing the gathering, N. Biren Singh stated that the Go to Hills mission was launched to bridge the developmental gaps between hill and valley regions after he became Chief Minister in the year 2017. Since then, the Go to Hills programme and even Cabinet meetings had been held at different district headquarters to review the progress of developmental works taken up in the areas.

Expressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s way of governance based on humanity and to work for the welfare of people, the Chief Minister stressed the need to keep aside all the differences and enmity and work together for the inclusive development. He further called Churachandpur as the luckiest district as a medical college with 100 seats of MBBS had been established, recognizing the potential of the people of the district. As such, he appealed to the public to refrain from bandh and strike to express their grievance and rather come up for talks to solve the issue. He further appealed to render support in Government’s initiatives to take up different projects for the development of the district.

Regarding the road development work at Tipaimukh Road (NH-150), Shri N. Biren requested the NHIDCL Officials to make a proposal for widening the road into double land as the locals had agreed not to take land compensation. He also informed that an Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) would be constructed at the Henglep Headquarter citing its backwardness. Regarding upgradation of the health centre and construction of a community hall at P. Sejol village, he said that he would look into the matter.

Informing that Churachandpur District is also included among the seven districts where the Government is constructing amusement parks, he asked the people of the district to plan well and keep some lands reserved for taking up development works. He further appealed to the public not to carry out deforestation for poppy plantations. As it not only affects the environment but makes youths addicted to drugs. He instructed the Superintendent of Police to take up immediate actions against those carrying out poppy plantations in the district.

Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister Letpao Haokip, Chairman, Hill Areas Committee Dinganglung Gangmei and MLA of Henglep AC Letzamang Haokip accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit. Administrative Secretaries, Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur, Government Officials and village authorities also attended the programme among others.
