Angawadi Helper Dies after COVID Vaccination at Jiribam

JIRIBAM: An Anganwadi helper in Jiribam District who was vaccinated against COVID-19 earlier this month has died. This is the first such incident that has come to light in the district since the vaccination of heath worker held in the district.

The deceased has been identified as a H.D. Thansing (72) years old W/o: Late H.D Kapthieng a residence of Chottobekra. She had received the first shot of coronavirus vaccine at Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Guakhal on February on 17 February.

As per report, after the received of vaccination the Anganwadi helper started experiencing fever and other difficulties. She was admitted to Jiribam 50- bedded hospital on February 27. On the severity of her health condition, she was referred to Alipur Hospital, Cachar. From where she was again referred to Valley hospital, since her condition was not improved, she was referred from valley hospital to Silchar Medical Hospital on March 06.

On the way to Silchar Medical hospital she breathed her last on March 06 at around 6:30 pm.

On the death of Anganwadi Worker after the received of coronavirus vaccine. The District Administration talked with the family members and relatives of the deceased and assured to provide the post of Anganwadi helper to the next to kin of the deceased.

The family members and relatives receive the corpse of the deceased from Jiribam hospital for performing her last rite as per their religious ritual.
